NBC JEEP® WORLD OF ADVENTURE SPORTS HEADS TO UNION SQUARE FOR NYC’S FIRST PROFESSIONAL RAIL JAM

February 18 episode features snowboarding, freeskiing, and off-road racing

PORTLAND, Maine, February 5, 2007--- NBC Jeep® World of Adventure Sports (JWOAS), an action and adventure sports series, will air its next episode on Sunday, February 18, 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time.  Host Pat Parnell of NBC Sports travels to New York City s first professional snowboarding competition to present this episode s thrilling events.  For more information, please visit www.WorldofAdventureSports.com

The next episode will feature:

  • The Union Square Street Sessions presented by Jeep, New York City s first major pro snowboarding rail jam competition.  The world s top professional snowboarders, including Olympic silver medalist Danny Kass, Marc Frank Montoya and Eddie Wall, will compete head-to-head for a prize purse of $30,000.  Twenty-four riders will show off their skills on the largest customized urban rail ever produced for an event of this kind in New York City.
  • The Teton Gravity Research (TGR) crew, Victoria Jealouse, Ian McIntosh, Jeremy Jones, and Sage Cattabriga-Alosa, head to the backcountry of Haines, Alaska.  Experienced rider Jeremy Jones leads the group through variable
    snowpack conditions and classic Alaskan spines.
  • The Jeep U.S. Freeskiing Open, the largest and most respected contest in freeskiing.  The 2007 Jeep U.S. Freeskiing Open, a Skiing Magazine event, features more than 300 of freeskiing s best and up-and-coming athletes competing in three disciplines: Slopestyle, Halfpipe and Big Air.  This year s slopestyle course was designed by top athletes Simon Dumont, Peter Olenick, Jon Olson and T.J. Schiller, who assisted in the creation of the overall course layout a first for the event.
  • Red Bull Last Man Standing, an epic off-road motorcycle race in Bulcher, Texas.  The race combines the very best of every off-road racing genre, pitting 128 of the world s top riders on a 2-lap circuit racing over 80 miles of the toughest terrain anywhere in the day and at night.
