NBC JEEP® WORLD OF ADVENTURE SPORTS FLYS TO SWITZERLAND FOR THE AEROBATIC WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

January 21 episode features paragliding, freediving, skiing, and snowboarding

PORTLAND, Maine January 11, 2007

NBC's Jeep® World of Adventure Sports (JWOAS), an action and adventure sports series, will air the season premiere episode on Sunday, January 21 at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Host Pat Parnell of NBC Sports travels to Vail Resort in Colorado to present the first episode of 2007. For more information, please visit www.WorldofAdventureSports.com.

The next episode features:

  • The Red Bull Vertigo 2006, the first Aerobatic World Championships for hang gliding and paragliding. Eighty pilots fly their aerial free flight programs in Villeneuve, Switzerland above Lake Leman while more than 50,000 spectators watch. Hang gliders reach speeds up to 85 mph and the incredible Spanish duo of brothers, Raul and Felix Rodriguez dazzle the crowd with their unbelievable paragliding maneuvers.
  • A profile of freediving and the world record attempts by Team PFI (Performance Freediving International).  Freedivers Mandy-Rae Cruickshank and Martin Stepanek head to Grand Cayman for a shot at five different world records and one US national record.
  • Teton Gravity Research (TGR) heads to Southern Chile to explore the steaming rivers and volcanoes of the Andean backcountry by snowmobile. The TGR Crew takes snowboarders Pat Moore, Danny Davis and Cristian Wehrhahn to get a taste of some big mountain riding before building a huge kicker and teeing off over the uncharted winter landscape of Termas de Chillan.
  • Highlights from pro rail jam competitions including The Block Party in Tahoe and Rails to Riches and Shop Wars at Killington. Pros Marc Frank Montoya and Lukas Magoon compete for the titles as well as an opportunity to participate in New York City s first ever rail jam, The Union Square Street Sessions.
