YEAR-END SHOW CELEBRATES THE “BEST OF” NBC JEEP® WORLD OF ADVENTURE SPORTS

November 27 show features most astonishing segments from the 2004 & 2005 seasons

PORTLAND, Maine, November 2, 2005 NBC's Jeep® World of Adventure Sports (JWOAS), an action and adventure sports series, will air its next episode on Sunday, November 27 at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Hosted by Pat Parnell of NBC Sports, the program features an array of outstanding action and adventure sports events. The November 27 JWOAS show will pay tribute to athletes and adventurers from previous seasons. The most alluring and remarkable show segments from 2004 and 2005 were selected to create an unforgettable Best of show.

The next episode includes:

  • A profile of skydiver and BASE jumper Felix Baumgartner. This Austrian daredevil has stunned the world in a string of exploits including a freefall from a transport plane to fly across the English Channel. Red Bull s Man with Wings does it again with a successful base jump into the dangerous Mamet Cave in Croatia s Velebit National Park. The jump into blackness lasts only 7.5 seconds and requires absolute timing to open the parachute and land safely on the rocky floor of the cave.
  • A visit with solo sailing legend Ellen MacArthur aboard the B&Q Trimaran, her multihull boat considered to be one of the fastest and most extreme to traverse the ocean. MacArthur displays her skill and courage against the high seas as she completed a single-handed round-the-world voyage in record-breaking time.
  • A journey to Norway's Lofoten Islands, where great surf and incredible heli skiing and snowboarding are found. Maui's Ian Walsh and Encinitas-based Benji Weatherly are directed by locals to some of the best waves north of the Arctic Circle. Pro freeskier Micha Black tackles the pristine and undiscovered mountains of the exceptional Lofoten Islands.
  • A profile of free climber Michael Reardon and his free soloing ascent up Tahquitz Rock, near Idyllwild, California. Reardon, rock star and entrepreneur, puts his life on the line to feel the freedom of climbing without a rope.
  • A vertical snowmobile expedition up the intimidating Snow King which rises 1,500 feet above the town of Jackson, Wyo. The course follows a route that reaches nearly a 45-degree angle near the summit. Hill climbers who lose it on the upper course risk tumbling hundreds of feet downhill.
  • Jeep King of the Mountain, a series of outstanding snow races featuring some of the most spectacular resorts in the world. JWOAS broadcasts highlights from the final event in Heavenly Lake Tahoe, Calif. The most elite skiers and riders negotiate the event s unique Y-shaped racecourse to earn a spot on the victory podium and a record $150,000 in prize money.

The next JWOAS episode will air on December 17 at 3:00 p.m. ET on NBC. JWOAS will also broadcast a special show featuring the Red Bull Air Race, an aerobatic flying race combining elements of slalom skiing and auto racing on December 24. This unique competition will air on NBC at 3:00 p.m. ET. Show times are subject to change. Please check local listings.
