NBC JEEP® WORLD OF ADVENTURE SPORTS AIRS THE PRESTIGEOUS “GOLD CUP”
PORTLAND, Maine, July 25, 2006 NBC's Jeep® World of Adventure Sports (JWOAS), an action and adventure sports series, will air its next episode on Saturday, August 5 at 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Hosted by Pat Parnell of NBC Sports, the program features an array of outstanding action and adventure sports events.
The next episode features:
- The APBA Gold Cup, the prestigious hydroplane race held on the Detroit River. Officially known as the "American Power Boat Association Challenge Cup," the Gold Cup is the ultimate racing prize. The famous gold trophy has enticed racers since 1904, making it the oldest active trophy in motorsports.
- Red Bull Elevation, the world’s most progressive BMX dirt jumping contest held in Whistler, B.C. Only the sport’s top 40 riders are invited to participate and compete on this one-of-a-kind course designed by veteran rider Jay Miron.
- TGR & a crew of surfers’ journey in search of undiscovered surf spots along Australia's South Coast. The crew faces some of the most rugged and barren terrain as they travel across the great Nullabor in a quest for uncharted surf.
- A profile of freediving and the world record attempts by Team PFI (Performance Freediving International). Freedivers Mandy-Rae Cruickshank and Martin Stepanek head to Grand Cayman for a shot at five different world records and one US national record.
