NBC JEEP® WORLD OF ADVENTURE SPORTS HEADS TO THE CITY FOR FREECLIMBING AND RIDING

June 24 show features freeclimbing, freeskiing, snowboarding, surfing, and kayaking

PORTLAND, Maine, June 1, 2006 NBC's Jeep® World of Adventure Sports (JWOAS), an action and adventure sports series, will air its next episode on Saturday, June 24 at 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Hosted by Pat Parnell of NBC Sports, the program features an array of outstanding action and adventure sports events.

The next episode features:

  • A profile of the “Urban Ape”, Timmy O’Neill and his freeclimb ascents up buildings in Boulder and Denver, Colo. Raised in the city, O’Neill fostered his love of the outdoors in the urban outdoor spaces of Philadelphia. At nineteen, he discovered the sport of rock climbing and quickly became one of the fastest climbers in the world.
  • Bryan Iguchi, Zach Leach, and Micah Black’s visit to the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. The athletes ride in the backcountry and resort areas while managing to catch some surf along the Moroccan coast.
  • The Red Bull Bike Battle, the world’s most progressive competition for urban freeriders from around the globe. The event’s course is located in the Pavilion of Baltimore’s inner harbor and is a beast of natural and man-made obstacles, putting each athlete’s technical ability and style to the ultimate test.
  • The O’Neill Cold Water Classic, the final stop of the Macy’s Trifecta Surf Series. Champions Bobby Martinez, Matt Archbold, and Cory Lopez compete in beautiful Santa Cruz for the Cold Water title.
  • Steve Fisher, Tyler Curtis, Ben Brown and Dan Campbell make history as they kayak the under rated and untapped white water in the province of Quebec, Canada for the Red Bull Recon.
