NBC JEEP® WORLD OF ADVENTURE SPORTS® SCALES ONE OF THE WORLD’S MOST DANGEROUS ROUTES IN THE OCTOBER 11TH EPISODE

PORTLAND, Maine, September 22nd, 2008—The Jeep® World of Adventure Sports®(JWOAS), an action and adventure sports series, will air on Saturday, October 11 at 2:30 p.m. ET/11:30 p.m. PT. Host Pat Parnell of NBC Sports travels to the magnificent Swiss Alps to present the seventh episode of the 2008 season from the base of the Eiger.

  • Dean Potter: First "FreeBASE" ascent: One of the most revered climbers in the world, Dean Potter attempts the first ascent without ropes on one of the most difficult faces of the Eiger. With only a small parachute marking the difference between success and a near certain death, Potter once again pushes the limits of climbing on one of the world’s most challenging peaks.
  • Red Bull Night Riders:  Red Bull ups the stakes with this “one of a kind” nighttime tow-at surf event which went down under the bright lights of the Atlantic City. Teams of two compete for their chance at the $5000 grand prize under the cover of night for both Big Air and Best Trick honors.
  • Maryhill Festival of Speed For one week in August, the world’s greatest gravity racers can be found in one place: the 2008 Maryhill Festival of Speed, home of this year’s IGSA World Championships. 200 of gravity sport’s biggest names will take center stage in a five day celebration of speed, skill and loose definitions of personal safety.
  • Honda Superbike Profile: JWOAS takes an in depth look at the Honda Superbike team and their race preparations for the grueling American Motorcyclists Association race schedule. We hear from team riders Miguel Duhamel and Neil Hodgson, mechanics, crew chiefs and more to understand what it takes to make the Honda Superbike team such a well oiled machine. 
  • Teton Gravity Research; British Columbia:  Follow along as Dash Longe, Victoria Jealous, Dylan Hood and Wiley Miller delve into the fabled deep powder, pillow and tree skiing of B.C.’s Selkirk Mountains. Featuring progressive riding in immaculate snow conditions this journey proves to be one for the ages.
