NBC JEEP® WORLD OF ADVENTURE SPORTS ENTERS ITS THIRD SEASON WITH A SPLASH

April 22 show features surfing, skiing, snowboarding, and mountain biking

PORTLAND, Maine, March 13, 2006 NBC's Jeep® World of Adventure Sports (JWOAS), an action and adventure sports series, will air its first episode of 2006 on Saturday, April 22 at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Hosted by Pat Parnell of NBC Sports, the premiere show of the third season will include record breaking stunts and all-star athletes in an array of outstanding action and adventure sports events.

The next episode features:
  • The Red Bull 5x project, the unconventional surfing competition where five surfers judge each other on torque, boost, push, mojo and combo during a 90-minute session. The world's best surfers including 3x World Champion Andy Irons, brother and surfing rival Bruce Irons, and big wave Maui charger, Ian Walsh travel to sacred tribal areas of Fiji for dreamlike waves and the possibility of earning the respect of their most esteemed colleagues as the RB5x winner.
  • The 13th season of the Jeep® King of the Mountain Series, the prestigious snow sports competition for professional athletes. The four-part series includes competitions from Maine to Colorado to determine the World Professional Snowboarding and Skiing Champions. Star-studded athletes just returning from the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy, head to the grand finale in Squaw Valley, Calif. where snow racing s largest cash purse is awarded.
  • Teton Gravity Research s trip to Brooks Lake Lodge Wyoming for pristine powder and backcountry snowmobiling. The TGR crew searches by snowmobile for untracked terrain. World-class snowboarders Travis Rice, Brina Iguchi and Mark Carter pick lines, scope cliffs, and build backcountry kickers in a snowboarder s playground.
  • World Champion mountain biker Nathan Rennie s attempt to break the world record distance jump on a bicycle. Nathan tries to fly his mountain bike more than 120 feet over the breathtaking Australian Outback, clearing the old record of 119 feet. In the isolated Painted Desert region, Rennie is whipped into a custom-made ramp by a motorbike at speeds in excess of 50 mph to break one of the most illusive bike records of all time.
  • The 6th Annual Powder Magazine Video Awards, the ceremony honoring the world s finest athletes, filmmakers, photographers, industry heavy-hitters, and loyal ski fans in the snow sports industry. With 30 ski films and videos released in 2005, the competition between filmmakers is tougher than ever.
