Tune in to NBC's Jeep World of Adventure Sports on Saturday, May 22 at 3 pm EST for these record-breaking events:
BIGGEST
WAVE EVER SURFED
Billabong XXL Global Big Wave Award Winner: Pete Cabrinha has
surfed the monster waves of Hawaii's Jaws since tow-in surfing began in
the 1990s, but none as big as the 70 foot wave he rode on January 10,
2004. Tune in as Cabrinha claims the world record for biggest wave ever
surfed. "Pete knew it was big, but when he saw the photo he nearly had
a heart attack," said Bill Sharp, coordinator for Billabong's XXL Global
Big Wave Awards. Billabong determines the contest winner by calculating
the wave size in surf photos from the contestants. Pete's prize? $70,000
for a 70-foot wave.

FASTEST
ROUND THE WORLD SAIL
Cheyenne Round the World Sailing Record: When it comes to long-distance
sailing, there aren't many records Steve Fossett--the greatest record-setter
in the history of speed sailing--hasn't broken. Jeep World of Adventure
Sports is there when he captures the big-daddy of them all, the round
the world sailing record, in 58 days, 9 hours. Watch as Fossett crosses
the RTW finish line at Ouessant, France on April 5 with his crew on the
125-foot maxi-cat Cheyenne. Constructed entirely out of aerospace technology
carbon fiber, the Cheyenne is the first of a new class of 100 foot-plus,
multi-hull boats designed to take on major ocean records.

LONGEST WATERFUL KAYAK CHUTE DESCENT
Record Kayak Waterfall Drop - Tao Berman: Tao Berman brought
extreme kayaking to a new level with his first descent of a Canadian 98
foot, 4 inch waterfall in 2000. Since securing the Guinness Book of World
Records title for the longest waterfall drop in a kayak, Berman has not
been one to rest on his laurels. He's also the speed altitude descent
record holder and vertical distance descent record holder, with over 50
first descents in the Western Hemisphere under his kayak. Jeep World of
Adventure Sports captures exclusive footage of this latest 300-foot sliding
chute descent. "The landing was shallow, only 2-3 feet of water, so if
I didn't land it right I'd shatter my ankles," Berman notes.

MOST EXTREME SKY DIVERS
B.A.S.E. Jumping - Teton Gravity Research: The extreme sports
cinematographers at Teton Gravity Research (TGR) capture hardcore adrenaline
athletes doing what they do best: skiing, kayaking, surfing, or, in this
case, B.A.S.E jumping. B.A.S.E is an acronym for Building, Antennae, Span,
Earth, the fixed-objects from which jumps are made. These jumps are below
skydiving's suggested minimum altitude, and thus are considered quite
dangerous and often illegal. In this episode, Jeep World of Adventure
Sports has obtained exclusive TGR footage from B.A.S.E. jumps in the Italian
Dolomites and other extreme locations.
