Red Bull Air Race :
Join JWOAS in San Francisco for the Red Bull Air Race World Series
Season Finale. This one-of-a-kind race pits an elite selection of world-class
aerobatic pilots against the clock, and ultimately one another, as they navigate
a timed slalom course of pylon obstacles and execute required low-level aerobatic
maneuvers.
Developed by Red Bull and World Aerobatic Champion; Peter Besenyei,
the race has become the first global aerial motor-sport racing series.
Besenyei is among nine pilots chosen by the Red Bull Air Race World Series
committee to compete in the international series, which took place in
seven different countries across three continents.
Each pilot flies a lightweight aerobatic plane heavy on horsepower that
cuts the air at over 300mph while pulling up to 11-positive and 8-negative
G-forces. At each race venue the pilots face different track, climate
and altitude conditions that make for an unpredictable, yet exciting
race. Competitors receive time penalties for mistakes in aerobatic moves,
and accumulate points throughout the seven race series.
JWOAS traveled to San Francisco for the season finale where more than
600,000 fans lined the waterfront to see former Top Guns and commercial
pilots maneuver the challenging course that took them directly over the
Golden Gate Bridge.
