Colorado mountains and rivers of Vail are the arena for competitions in

ROAD
TO THE RAID
The Raid: The town of Bend likes to be called Oregon's playground
for good reason. On the second leg of the 2004 Raid Adventure Race, teams
will navigate the towering pine forests, rock canyons and volcanic Cascade
mountains that have challenged explorers since the time of Lewis and Clark.
From the year-round snows of 9,065-foot Mt. Bachelor to the heat of the
high desert plateau, watch as Bend gives these racers a lesson in human

MIAMI VICE-ROY OF BOATS
Team Bacardi Silver and the SBI Series: Jeep World of Adventure
Sports takes us on board some of the biggest, fastest offshore powerboats
in the world. Featured is the million dollar Bacardi Silver super boat
-- the 202 mph speed record holder -- with its 46-foot catamaran hull,
F-16 jet canopy, and two 1,400 HP sterling supercharged V-8 engines. Owner/driver
Dave Scott and throttle-man John Tomlinson reach top speeds as they compete
in Florida's premier extreme power boating event, the Super Boat International
offshore series. "It's extreme," says PR manager Rodrick Cox. "It's two
guys strapped in a 5-point harness going 125 mph on a 6-8 mile course
and getting pounded in 6-8 foot waves."

EVERYDAY
HEROES
Mt. Hood Mountain Rescue: When things go wrong in the mountains,
the rescue teams are often in as much danger as the people they're rescuing.
Jeep World of Adventure Sports goes behind the scenes with the hard-core
men and women of Oregon's Crag Rats, the oldest search and rescue group
West of Mississippi, and the parajumpers of the 304th Rescue Squadron
as they talk about 911 calls on Oregon's 11,239 foot Mt. Hood and the
infamous 2002 helicopter crash. "It's important to remember that rescuers
are athletes," says Jeff Pricher of the Crag Rats. "We're not competing
against another team, we're competing to save someone's life."
